Man of God: What is Expected?

Man of God: What is Expected?

One evening, a royal elder, son of YHWH and beloved in my heart, asked me, “Are you a man of God?” I replied, “I would like to think so.” He spoke, “It is good to see a true man of God.” We further discussed other upcoming events, but a question was left in my mind. What exactly is a “man of God?” Nowadays, the term gets thrown around in so many places and ways. I have been called it before, by people, but never asked if I was. I know I love YHWH and Yeshua, I even continually, willingly put my life on the line, but the beloved one of God; called me to ponder this question.

I pray, seeking the Holy Spirit and search the scriptures. The Spirit led me to this understanding: Faith, in all is Spirit and Truth.

The scriptures say:

John 4:23-24 – “But the hour cometh, and now is, when the true worshippers shall worship the Father in spirit and in truth: for the Father seeketh such to worship him. God is a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth.”

Though looking back at the question, it seems to be a simple answer. But knowing the responsibility that comes with such a thought, it is something to expanse upon.

“Man of God” does not mean perfection. Even Moses, David and Elijah were called “Men of God”, yes, they were beloved of God, but were not perfect. Nor am I, in anyway, but only a blurry reflection of a flame, to hope, to light the way to the Truth of Yeshua.

Asking YHWH to work perfection in me and my loved ones:

Ephesians 4:11-15 (KJV) ~
“And he gave some, apostles; and some, prophets; and some, evangelists; and some, pastors and teachers; For the perfecting of the saints, for the work of the ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ: Till we all come in the unity of the faith, and of the knowledge of the Son of God, unto a perfect man, unto the measure of the stature of the fulness of Christ: That we henceforth be no more children, tossed to and fro, and carried about with every wind of doctrine, by the sleight of men, and cunning craftiness, whereby they lie in wait to deceive; But speaking the truth in love, may grow up into him in all things, which is the head, even Christ:”

As men and women of God, in our Faith, it is Spirit of Truth, which the Father, the Holy Spirit, who lights us with his understanding, in this moves us to proclaim our Lord Yeshua, the Salvation sent by the Father.

2 Corinthians 4:1-5 (KJV) ~
“Therefore seeing we have this ministry, as we have received mercy, we faint not; but have renounced the hidden things of dishonesty, not walking in craftiness, nor handling the word of God deceitfully; but by manifestation of the truth commending ourselves to every man's conscience in the sight of God. But if our gospel be hid, it is hid to them that are lost:”

We, All in the Gospel Grace & Faith in Yeshua, are not to hide and nor be deceitful in the word of God, not for pride, fear or "power" in this world.

As Paul wrote to Timothy, man of God:

1 Timothy 6:11-21 (KJV) ~
“But thou, O man of God, flee these things; and follow after righteousness, godliness, faith, love, patience, meekness. Fight the good fight of faith, lay hold on eternal life, whereunto thou art also called, and hast professed a good profession before many witnesses. I give thee charge in the sight of God, who quickeneth all things, and before Christ Jesus, who before Pontius Pilate witnessed a good confession; That thou keep this commandment without spot, unrebukable, until the appearing of our Lord Jesus Christ: Which in his times he shall shew, who is the blessed and only Potentate, the King of kings, and Lord of lords; Who only hath immortality, dwelling in the light which no man can approach unto; whom no man hath seen, nor can see: to whom be honour and power everlasting. Amen. Charge them that are rich in this world, that they be not highminded, nor trust in uncertain riches, but in the living God, who giveth us richly all things to enjoy; That they do good, that they be rich in good works, ready to distribute, willing to communicate; Laying up in store for themselves a good foundation against the time to come, that they may lay hold on eternal life. O Timothy, keep that which is committed to thy trust, avoiding profane and vain babblings, and oppositions of science falsely so called: Which some professing have erred concerning the faith. Grace be with thee. Amen.”

So, when you hear the term, “man/woman of God”, it’s not just a term of spiritual endearment, but a time of humility and opportunity to ask God, “Father, What would you have for me to do?”
